Scott Trail 10 Loose Fit Women's Shorts

The Scott Trail 10 shorts are a relaxed ladies all mountain short that have ticked all the boxes where style and performance are concerned. It refreshing to see a short that is long enough in the leg to prevent any nasty thigh gap, there’s not much we don’t like about these shorts!

The Trail 10’s are designed to be a trail short for all day and any day use. The loose fit and over the knee length will be a hit for knee pad wearers and the stretchy, flexible material is uber comfy. Scott use their DUROxpand fabric with 4-way stretch, in the real world this means the shorts have  a lot of ‘give’ and don’t ruck up when pedalling. The fabric also has another of Scott’s ‘DURO’ features, this time DUROshade with UV protection (UPF30+) for those hot and sunny alpine adventures that these shorts were made for.

A great length - no nasty thigh gap here

I tested the Trail 10’s in autumn and winter, so whilst I can’t account for the UV protection I can vouch for the DWR coating which has kept trail spray at bay and is still working many washes later. The chamois pad included with the shorts is for minimalist, any whilst the thin pad offers some protection with little bulk, I need something more padded for all day adventures. The mesh fabric of the lycra and the short leg length point towards clear summer riding intentions too.

I wore a size medium which fitted well on my size 10 shape, if a little on the large side, I’d fit in a small too I reckon, only those weren’t in stock with Scott at the time if the test. The fit is flattering, the shorts aren’t too tight on the thighs and as I’ve mentioned they are of a good length, dropping down over even my most bulky kneepads – nice work Scott!

Waist adjusters are secure and lie flat

Feature-wise, Scott keeps it pretty simple, there are two zippered pockets, on on the right hip and one on the left leg. The leg pocket has an inner mesh pocket to store small items like a mobile, not necessary really but a good thought. The shorts are fastened by two durable poppers and winched in via the normal Velcro hip adjusters, which I’m pleased to say, lie flat against the hips without hooking up on jersey material.

I’m a fan of Scott kit for its clean lines and cool styling, every piece I’ve tested so far (Trail 20 Jersey and the AR MTB Boa Shoes) has resulted in top marks and a happy comfortable rider, at £100 for the shorts and liner, these are great value too. The Trail 10 shorts are no different, they are a robust, good looking number for ladies who ride hard in all conditions.
