The hugely successful eBike series is stopping off in five European locations throughout summer. Since the series debut year at the TweedLove Bike Festival in Innerleithen, Scotland, in 2019, the event is returning to the festival on 18th September in 2021.
The Bosch eMTB Challenge offers uphill and downhill timed sections over six stages to test technical ability and orientation skills. For the first time this year, riders can enter one of two categories of competition; Amateur and Advanced. The Amateur is aimed at newcomers with some mountain biking experience. Whereas the Advanced category is aimed at experienced mountain bikers, who will face two additional stages to the Amateurs.
In total, riders can expect to cover around 35km with 1,000m of climbing - requiring smart battery management and conservation of physical energy. With multiple timed stages and transitions in-between, trails are varied with a mix of uphill and downhill sections. However, there are no training runs for this event, so everyone will be in the same boat - riding blind!
At each round of the Bosch eMTB Challenge, there'll be a winner for every category - of course. However, riders will now be able to accrue points that contribute to an overall series ranking. Further changes and updates to the points and ranking system include gender and category team rankings. A team can comprise three and six members from the 'Amateur' and 'Advanced' categories. The three fastest stage times for each team will then count in the overall rankings.
There are 150 places available per round, so if you're interested in entering, you best be quick!
